I am come that you might have life. God

If you were deceived, would you know it?
If someone told you the truth, would you recognize it?

For an unsaved person, the answer to both questions is NO. An unsaved person cannot see the true condition of his or her soul. Nor can they grasp the truth, no matter how clearly it is presented. It is like trying to explain the rainbow to someone who is colorblind.

The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. (2 Cor 2:14)

Our son Michael was five years old when we first took him strawberry picking. Our other children quickly filled their baskets with bright red strawberries. But Michael was frustrated because he found hardly any. When my wife asked me what could possibly be the matter, it occurred to me that our young son might be colorblind. Indeed, that proved to be the case. Michael didn't know or care that he was colorblind, because he couldn't miss what he'd never had. In like manner, an unsaved person doesn't know or care that their spirit is dead.

God created man as a union of three parts: body, soul, and spirit. The spirit is the part that connects us to God. But ever since the Fall people are born with only two parts - body and soul. Their spirit is dead and lifeless. That is why God seems so far away and unreal to most of us, and why so few of us hear His voice. The only way that we can regain our lost connection to God is for the Holy Spirit of God to birth a new spirit within us.

Flesh give birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit." (John 3:6 NIV)

Note that the first Spirit begins with a capitial letter "S." This is the Holy Spirit of God. The second spirit begins with a small letter "s." This is your spirit. This is the New Birth that Christians talk about. Some call it getting "saved." This may not make sense to you now. But once your spirit is alive, it will make perfect sense to you.

Your Sinful Carnal Nature

Rom 3:23 - For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

The unsaved world thinks that sin is something that catches us every now and then. But when the Holy Spirit reveals the truth to you, you will understand that sin is who we are.

You're not caught by it (sin). You're born into it.

Our sinful carnal nature is like a malware computer program where all the default settings are wrong. Most of us have lived with it for so long that we have come to accept it as "normal and acceptable," when really it is anything but! The world says that all you need is a bit of self-improvement. But God's Word says that your sinful carnal nature is beyond cure. It can only be put to death! (Gal 5:24) It is not your fault that you were born with the sinful carnal nature. But it is your fault if you fail to deal with it.

With my right arm, I shall come for mine, and they shall be gathered from many nations on earth. Old and new found alike shall gather and they shall cleave to me as a child cleaves to its mother. COME INTO THE FOLD.
