John 3:16 (NIV) - For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

All Dogs Go to Heaven? - Some people think that because God loves everyone, it automatically follows that everyone will get into Heaven. That's a comforting theory. But Jesus clearly says (Matt 7:13-14) that only a minority will make it to Heaven. God's saving grace is available to everyone, but only those who ask for it receive.

If you ask the wrong question, you get the wrong answer - Some people say that they cannot believe in a God who would send anyone to Hell. But God isn't in the business of sending people to Hell. He's in the business of rescuing people from Hell - even to the cost of sacrificing His own Son! Others say they cannot believe in a God who allows evil. One day (hopefully soon) Jesus will return to put an end to all evil. But for now, God explains in the Bible why He is delaying Judgment. Have you bothered to listen to His explanation? Or have you just been listening to the opinions of men?

Beware Self-Righteousness! If you think that your good works will get you into Heaven, you've completely misunderstood the Gospel message. Salvation is not about being good. It's about being rescued.

Christians Are Just a Bunch of Hypocrits!- You haven't discovered anything new. If you think we are nasty now, you should've seen us before we were saved! We were sinners when God rescued us, and we will not be entirely free from sin until the day we die.

Too Many Interpretations? There are 41,000 different Christian denominations, and each one thinks it is the only one that is right. This can be daunting. But Jesus doesn't say, "Follow that priest - or pastor - or denomination - or tradition." Jesus says, "Follow Me." Stop listening to people and read the Bible for yourself. Jesus says that His message is simple enough for a child to understand, and that it is only the worldly intellectuals who get tangled up in theological disputes.

Refusing to Take Responsibility - Some people think, "What happens to me after I die is up to God." But God has already done everything He can do for you. What happens to you after you die is up to YOU.

Procrastination - Some people say that they will get right with God some day. Hell is full of people who procrastinated.

Religiousity - To the religious establishment who have needlessly complicated the process of salvation, the Lord says

Narrow is the way that leads to life. But why do my people continually try to make it narrower than I intended? My yoke is easy and My burden light. Who are you to add to it?

Salvation Without Repentance? - It is not uncommon for modern American churches to offer salvation without repentance. But this is not what Jesus taught. Repentance and salvation are inseparably linked throughout Bible. Who are you going to believe, Jesus or your preacher?

Decision Under Duress? - Churches and evangelists sometimes pressure people into accepting salvation, but this is NOT Jesus' way. Fifteen times in the Bible Jesus simply says,

He who has ears, let him hear.

In God's Timing - My greatest desire is to see all my friends and loved ones saved and headed to Heaven. But in my eagerness I sometimes overstep the bounds.

You keep trying to push Me onto them. Either they come to me of their own will, or not at all.

A Willing Bride - A premature "salvation prayer" made in response to pressure will only give someone false assurance of something that they don't really have. In that case they are worse off than at the beginning! Jesus is looking for a willing bride, not one from an arranged marriage, and certainly not one who is kicking and screaming! We can tell our loved ones about Jesus. But only the Holy Spirit of God can reveal the truth to someone in a life-changing way.

I call to the lost. My voice shall not forever be heard. . . . . There is an appointed time when my still soft voice will be heard no more. Please be gathered among mine. I offer you all - you refuse to hear. I offer you beauty - you refuse to see. I offer you the tree of life - and you refuse to eat. How long must I wait?
