Your only security is in me. God.

Bob Ps 91:2 - I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."

I spent the first part of my life searching for security - for a safe harbor where I could hide from the storms of life. In time I learned that

Money isn't a safe harbor. Cast but a glance at riches, and they sprout wings and fly away like an eagle.

Career isn't a safe harbor. The career of a lifetime can be wiped out in a moment by the vagaries of academia, politics, or big business.

Friends aren't a safe harbor because friends - no matter how dear - are only for a season.

Children aren't a safe harbor because eventually they grow up and leave home.

Controlling circumstances and people isn't a safe harbor because we really control neither. "Control freaks" are some of the most frustrated people on the planet!

Marriage isn't a safe harbor because your spouse can choose to walk away from your relationship, or they can be removed suddenly by sickness or death.

Health and Fitness isn't a safe harbor because sickness and accidents can strike without notice. And no matter how well I take care of my body, it will eventually wear out.

Finally one day the Lord spoke to my heart:

There are no safe harbors. There is only Me.
