Don't give up! God

(Christmas Day, Dec 06) I crossed the suspension bridge over Boardtree falls and doubled back to the spectacular overlook high above Greeter Falls. The valley floor was carpeted by leafless gray oak and hickory trees. But the dreary landscape was graced here and there by evergreen hemlocks that had refused to give in to the winter. The hemlocks reminded me that God holds me accountable for carrying out my assignments, regardless of the difficulty. If I become discouraged and quit, how then can the Lord work in my life? At this point the Lord reminded me that He's got a world full of quitters on His hands. He doesn't need one more!

I don't need one more dead spot.

If Satan can get you to quit, he's won. Is that what you're going to let him do?

The Lord also reminded me that every time you give up and quit, you not only disappoint Him; you also leave a mess behind for somebody else to clean up.

Ps 78:9 - The men of Ephraim, though armed with bows, turned back on the day of battle.

When God armed the men of Ephraim with bows, He armed them with the best weapon available at the time. Consequently, they were without excuse when they turned back on the day of battle. They are forever recorded in God's Word as quitters. If you turn back from your calling, you too will be recorded in God's book as a quitter. The world, the flesh, and the devil will supply countless excuses designed to entice you to quit your responsibilities. But these excuses are groundless because God equips your for every assignment He gives you. Your marriage, your family, your job, and your church are all assignments from God.

"Lord, why won't people recognize their assignments as coming from You?"

The world has never recognized Me.

If you give up in your winter, you will miss the promise of your spring, the beauty of your summer, and the fulfillment of your fall.
