The Only Thing of Value

"The only thing of value you have to share with anyone else is what I have done for you."

Every child is a child to love. God

Bob 1 John 15:12 - As I have loved you, so love one another.

(Nov 08) "He never paid me!" she complained. "After I did all that work for him, he never gave me the guitar he promised."

"Do you play guitar?" I asked.

"No. I'd like to learn. But there's no way I can afford one."

I had the feeling that she was used to people breaking their promises. She was right about not being able to afford a guitar. This teen lived in poverty. But somehow she managed to maintain a cheerful attitude and attractive appearance.

"Well," I lamely offered, "Maybe something will work out."

That night I took one last look at my guitar. It was a fine piece of craftsmanship, full of memories and favorite melodies. But I hadn't played it for two years. What would please You most Lord? I've been holding on to it in case one of my children might want to play.

"Who are your children?"

I cleaned and polished the guitar, then played it one last time. Her eyes were big when I gave it to her later that night. To those who own little, even simple things are a treasure. That was the night I learned that your father-love or mother-love cannot stop at your own biological children. Every child that God places into your life - whether for a moment or a season - is your child to love and care for.
